So What Will This Involve? Part 7 of 7.
This blog will consist of a series of articles on some of the common aspects of personal safety: securing your home and vehicle, the strengths and weaknesses of various non-lethal defensive weapons, choosing and learning to use a firearm for home defense, carrying a concealed firearm (if you are legally permitted to do so), family plans in the event of an emergency, and the like. It will not address such things as cyber-security – which is an entire field in itself – or what to do in the event of a thermonuclear war or a societal collapse. If you are interested in those subjects, there are plenty of places to find useful (and a lot of useless) information. This blog is about basic, commonsense personal safety. The folks at Called to be Safe want to help you keep yourself and your loved ones safe from the threats that are, unfortunately, part and parcel of life in this day and age.
As professional combat pistol instructor Dave Spaulding so aptly put it, in the event of a life-threatening situation: “You must be an active participant in your own rescue!” I hope you never have to do it, but if you do, you can do it. You just have to do a bit of preparation.
